  • Company: Bionyra Pharma
  • Funding: $165 million
  • Focus area: TL1A-driven inflammatory disease
  • Pipeline: Three extended-half-life biologics
  • Next steps: Advance Phase 1 programmes and combination studies

What happened?

Bionyra Pharma has emerged from stealth with $165 million in funding and a pipeline built around TL1A biology. The company says it is developing three extended-half-life biologics aimed at inflammatory diseases, including programmes already in Phase 1.

Why does it matter?

TL1A has become one of the most closely watched immune targets in inflammation because it may support disease control with a differentiated safety and dosing profile. Bionyra’s launch shows how quickly capital is flowing into this area as investors back longer-acting biologics and combination strategies.

Who’s behind it?

Bionyra was formed by Sofinnova Partners and is led by Frédéric Marrache, formerly head of immunology R&D at Sanofi. The company is positioning itself as a specialist immunology player focused on hard-to-treat inflammatory diseases.

How was it achieved?

The pipeline includes BYN-002, a monoclonal antibody against TL1A now in Phase 1, and BYN-003, a bispecific antibody combining TL1A with an IL-23-related target. A third asset, BYN-001, is an anti-IL-25 antibody planned for atopic dermatitis and other inflammatory indications, all designed for less frequent dosing.

What’s next?

Bionyra plans to move its clinical assets forward and explore combination studies across inflammatory diseases such as IBD and atopic dermatitis. The company’s immediate challenge will be proving that its longer-dosing biologics can deliver meaningful differentiation in a crowded immunology market.
