  • Company: Bora Pharmaceuticals (Taiwan CDMO)
  • Location: Rockville, Maryland → added to Bora’s US presence
  • Deal value: $122.5M upfront + up to $5M milestones
  • Focus area: Biologics drug substance manufacturing
  • Next steps: Close Q3 2026; ~140 employees transfer

What happened?

Bora Pharmaceuticals agreed to acquire MacroGenics’ GMP manufacturing operations, including its Rockville biologics facility and Frederick warehouse, for $122.5 million upfront. This secures the production plant used for clinical trials and commercial drugs like Margenza and Zynyz.

Why does it matter?

For MacroGenics, the non-dilutive cash extends its runway into 2027 while preserving access to manufacturing via long-term supply. For Bora, the acquisition adds 11,000 litres of capacity, commercial-stage monoclonal antibody programmes, and a fully integrated East Coast biologics hub.

Who’s behind it?

Bora Pharmaceuticals (TWSE: 6472; OTCQX: BORAY) operates Bora Biologics CDMO through Tanvex Biopharma. MacroGenics (NASDAQ: MGNX) is an antibody-based therapeutic developer that reported $52.6 million in contract manufacturing revenue in 2025.

How was it achieved?

The Rockville site contains five 2,000-litre and two 500-litre single-use bioreactors, plus QC and analytical labs; it has passed FDA and PMDA inspections. Up to $5 million in contingent payments ties to 2027–2028 CDMO performance and customer order milestones.

What’s next?

Bora will integrate the facility into Bora Biologics, bringing total drug substance capacity to 20,000 litres. MacroGenics will sign a long-term CDMO service agreement to continue process development and drug substance production for its pipeline.

What are people saying?

“This acquisition marks a pivotal step in strengthening Bora’s integrated biologics CDMO platform in the United States,” said Bobby Sheng, Bora Group CEO. The company aims to offer customers seamless development-to-commercial supply with one partner.
