What happened?
Parabilis Medicines is preparing an IPO that it says could bring in $413.6 million in net proceeds, with the total rising to $476.4 million if underwriters fully exercise their option. The Massachusetts biotech plans to use the money to advance zolucatetide, its Wnt/β-catenin pathway inhibitor, into Phase 3 testing for desmoid tumours.
Why does it matter?
Desmoid tumours are rare, noncancerous growths that can still cause major pain and disability, so a late-stage programme in this space could address a serious unmet need. The filing also shows that public-market investors are still willing to back specialised rare-disease assets with clear clinical milestones.
Who’s behind it?
Parabilis Medicines, formerly known as FogPharma, is a Massachusetts biotech built around its Helicon peptide platform. The company is also coming off a recent collaboration with Regeneron, which included a $50 million upfront payment and a $75 million equity investment.
How was it achieved?
The proposed offering covers 25 million shares priced between $17 and $19 each, with additional shares available under the underwriters’ option. Parabilis has already secured FDA fast-track designation for zolucatetide in desmoid tumours, which should help support its push into Phase 3.
What’s next?
Parabilis expects to spend about $150 million on zolucatetide’s desmoid tumour development and is preparing to launch the Phase 3 trial. It is also earmarking funds for continued Phase 1 work in familial adenomatous polyposis, hepatocellular carcinoma and other Wnt-activated solid tumours, plus advancement of its broader pipeline.
