  • Location: Or Yehuda, Israel (US HQ: Jersey City, NJ)
  • Deal value: $5M funding round
  • Focus area: LibAirty system for COPD, bronchiectasis mucus clearance
  • Next steps: US market expansion, provider partnerships

What happened?

Synchrony Medical raised $5 million to support US commercial rollout of LibAirty, its FDA-cleared airway clearance system for chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). Announced 19 February 2026, the funding bolsters sales, marketing and distribution following the device’s October 2025 US launch. LibAirty gained 510(k) clearance in July 2025 based on studies at MUSC and Sheba Medical Center.

Why does it matter?

COPD affects millions with mucus obstruction driving exacerbations and hospitalisations; LibAirty offers at-home therapy twice as effective as traditional vests per trials, improving adherence and outcomes. Funds enable scaling access amid growing demand for non-invasive respiratory devices.

Who’s behind it?

Synchrony Medical, an Israel-based medtech firm, developed LibAirty with Sheba Medical Center experts including co-founder Dr. Moshe Ashkenazi. CEO Anat Shani leads commercial efforts from new US headquarters.

How was it achieved?

LibAirty pairs a compression vest with BiPAP ventilation and app-guided breathing, inspired by autogenic drainage for superior small-airway clearance. Studies in 20 bronchiectasis patients showed better sputum clearance versus high-frequency chest wall oscillation or physiotherapy.

What’s next?

Expanded US partnerships with clinics and homecare providers; showcase at respiratory conferences. Funding supports nationwide availability.
